Definition

A data source is a generally remote data storage area plus its access rights.

Recorded data sources can be re-used in Tale of Data to help with configurations (flow, catalog, mass data discovery, etc.) that require read and/or write access to a data source.

Configuration

You must specify the type of data source image71. If necessary, you can create a new data source image72 (remote file repository, database,, etc.).

Specific settings are suggested for some types of source (files in particular) image73.

Example

image74

Here, for example, we see the configuration of a source node. The node will become a “Tale of Data File System” data source.

With the exception of My Workspace, all data sources can be altered or deleted by right-clicking the source in the catalog:

Caution

Any change to a data source (e.g. change of password) will affect all the flows. All flows using that data source for reading (source) or writing (sink) will be updated.
